HISP AVR - AVR USB ISP
HISP is a USB ISP (In System Programmer) for AVR microcontrollers from Atmel(tm). It's low cost and highly flexible. Being compatible with many free software, including avrdude, it is capable of reading and writing software and data to microcontrollers of the AVR8 family, with great speed.
HISP can be used for development and mass-production of devices using AVR8. It's practical and simple, it can be used by students, hobbyists and professionals. It's versatile and can program custom devices, protoboards, Brasuinos and other boards derived or inspired by Arduino.

HISP characteristics
- Compatible with many programming software for AVR8 - you can work on a completely free development environment!
- Uses ATMEGA8U2 microcontroller, and can be easily reprogrammed to act as another USB function device, like a UART device or a digital input reader;
- Free and Open Hardware: designed with free software and licensed as GPLv2 - feel free to reuse and derive from HISP-AVR!
- Powered by USB, it's capable of powering 5V loads up to 200mA through the programming cable, making your work even easier;
- You can switch the power off of the programming cable, allowing you to program devices that operate at lower-than-5V voltage;
- Provides a connection for 6 or 10 terminal SPI programming standards;
- Small and clean: it's the size of a matchbox!
